Oracle Acquires Zendedge & Opens 12 New Data Centers

It has been a busy week at Oracle with a number of announcements highlighting the depth of investment Oracle is making in the Cloud. This is good news not just for Cloud ERP customers but equally for Oracle JD Edwards customers who can leverage the investment Oracle is making in the Cloud to extend and optimise their ERP systems.

Oracle opening 12 new datacenter regions across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. 

Driven by strong customer demand for its cloud services worldwide, Oracle today announced plans to significantly expand its modern cloud infrastructure footprint. The company’s rapid expansion plans include the opening of 12 new datacenter regions and increase the breadth and depth of Oracle Cloud services available across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. With this news, Oracle continues its industry leadership position, delivering a complete and integrated portfolio of cloud services (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS) and new services in security, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence.

With our expanded, modern data centers, Oracle is uniquely suited to deliver the most autonomous technologies in the world,” said Oracle CEO Mark Hurd. “As we invest, our margins will continue to expand. And with our global datacenter expansion, we are able to help customers lower IT costs, mitigate risks and compete like they never have before.”

The regional expansion of Oracle’s cloud footprint will include locations in Asia including China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and South Korea; Europe including Amsterdam and Switzerland; and North America including two in Canada and two new US locations to support U.S. Department of Defense workloads.


Oracle Acquires Zenedge | leading cloud-based network and infrastructure security company

On February 15, 2018, Oracle announced that it signed an agreement to acquire Zenedge, adding leading cloud-based network and infrastructure security capabilities to protect enterprises from today's complex digital threats. The combination of Oracle and Zenedge equips Oracle's enterprise-grade Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) with integrated, next-generation Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) capabilities.

Zenedge helps secure critical IT systems deployed via cloud, on-premise or hybrid hosting environments. Customers leverage Zenedge's WAF and DDoS mitigation products to secure their applications, networks, databases and APIs from malicious Internet traffic. Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), Zenedge's products and 24/7 virtual Security Operations Center (SOC) defend over 800,000 web properties and networks globally.
